A classic favorite among Whiskey lovers, the Old-Fashioned is a classic cocktail that has been enjoyed for centuries. This timeless drink is the perfect mix of smooth and sophisticated. Siliconeer’s in-house Whiskey connoisseur, Amar D. Gupta, shares a unique recipe for this classic favorite.

Prep time – 5-10 minutes

Serving Size – 1 Drink

RECIPE:

Ingredients:

  • 2 shots of  your favorite whiskey (single malt or bourbon) or (black tea for non-alcoholics)
  • 1 tbsp honey syrup (1 part honey, 1 part water)
  • 1 dash orange bitters
  • 2 dashes Angostura aromatic bitters
  • orange peel garnish
  • pinch of saffron (yellow or red)
  • star anise (chakra phool)
  • 2 large ice cubes

Method:

Grab a mixing glass. Add the whiskey using a shot glass. Then add the honey syrup, and the bitters into the mixing glass with ice. Stir for about 30 seconds or until well-chilled.

Strain the cocktail into a Rock glass over ice. Garnish the drink with an orange peel, star anise, and saffron leaves.

Enjoy with the Masala Peanut Tostada.

For a non-alcoholic, switch out the Whiskey with Black Tea instead. The stronger the tea, the better the flavor. Skimp on the saffron a little in this version.

Cheers!
