Federation of Indo Americans (FIA) is well known in San Francisco and the western U.S. for organizing colossal community events that integrate the fabric of global communities. This year, the association is hosting the Festival of Globe, a 10-day jubilant celebration in Silicon Valley, Aug. 7-16. The event will include SF Global Movie Fest, FOG Awards, India Independence Day Mela (Fair) and Grand Parade. Celebrities like Jackie Chan, Sharon Stone, Martin Sheen, and our very own Bappi Lahiri, Neha Dhupia and a slew of Bollywood celebrities are going to be present. Surpassing previous turnout records, this year promises to attract largest ever gatherings in SF Bay Area. Thousands are expected to attend FOG awards in SAP Center and participate in the FOG Grand Parade, says a release from the FOG organizers.
Festival of Globe events:
SF MOVIE FEST is home to world movies and its mission is to empower and integrate global cultures and communities through Film Arts, Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Folk Arts. The movie fest will feature short films, documentaries, feature films and music videos submitted by independent filmmakers from around the world. SF Global Movie Fest will be held Aug. 7-13 at Camera12 Cinemas and Aug. 14 at California Theaters in San Jose, Calif.
FOG AWARDS is a premier show with unique recognition for global achievers that selects over 100 winners from movies submitted from more than 30 countries. The host of celebrities from Bollywood, Hollywood, Latin America, Europe, China and Far East, top moviemakers, independent moviemakers and investors will attend the event.
Jackie Chan, Sharon Stone, Martin Sheen, Neha Dhupia, and many more Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities are among the star attractions at FOG Awards. Legendary Bollywood music director Bappi Lahiri along with famous Kat Kramer and Andy Madadian will perform at the SAP Center, filling the arena with poetic beauty of Persian, Armenian music and soulful Indian vibes. ‘Bohemia – The King of Punjabi Rap’ will have an unprecedented live stage performance.
FOG Awards will be held on Saturday, August 15, at 6pm at SAP Center, in downtown San Jose.
INDIA INDEPENDENCE FAIR (MELA), a cultural epiphany, kids carnival, health fair, and bazaar has more than 100 dance groups who will showcase their talents and compete for the honors to be called best dance group in Bay Area. Two-day fair with over 200 booths displaying art, crafts, ethnic dresses, literature, and food, will be held in Fremont, Calif., Aug. 15-16 from 10am to 5 pm.
This festival marking the Indian Independence day celebrations has many popular and well sought after segments such as health fair, grand parade, kids talent programs, food and cultural programs representing India. A free Health Fair run by over 100 healthcare professionals will screen for heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis, eye problems, dental disorders and other diseases.
THE GRAND PARADE will exhibit culture, creativity, reflections, diversity and traditions of India. This year, celebrities from Hollywood, Bollywood and the rest of the Globe will ride more in a motorcade of over 100 open cars along with over 50 colorful Floats.
The grand parade will be held in Fremont, Calif., Sunday, August 16, from 11am to 2pm.
FIA’s goal is to promote humanity with honesty, integrity, accountability and above all, abundant compassion and bring aid to those who need it the most.
