Yes, Siliconeer goes rogue. We decided that Bollywood and Indian cinema are not doing it for us, so we are looking elsewhere for entertainment. Apple answered.

The roar of engines and the glamour of Formula 1 racing converge in Apple Original Films’ most ambitious project yet—”F1 The Movie.” Starring Brad Pitt, the movie is this year’s ultimate racing drama. Premiered in theaters nationwide on June 27, 2025, this adrenaline-fueled spectacle recently celebrated its European premiere at London’s Leicester Square.

The last time motorheads were this excited was with “Ford v. Ferrari.” “F1” has outperformed all expectations, and we couldn’t be giddier about it.

Pitt portrays Sonny Hayes, dubbed “the greatest that never was”—a former F1 phenom whose promising 1990s career was derailed by a devastating track accident. Three decades later, Hayes exists as a nomadic racer-for-hire until his former teammate, Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), approaches him with an irresistible proposition. Cervantes now owns a struggling F1 team teetering on collapse and needs Hayes for one final shot at glory, pairing the aging veteran with hotshot rookie Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris).

What sets this production apart is its authentic F1 pedigree. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton serves as both producer and creative consultant, ensuring the film captures the sport’s technical precision and emotional intensity. The collaboration represents a fascinating intersection of Hollywood storytelling and real-world racing expertise.

Director Kosinski, fresh off his “Top Gun: Maverick” triumph, brings his expertise in capturing high-speed action to the world’s most prestigious racing circuit. Speaking of “Top Gun: Maverick,” Tom Cruise was present at the London premiere.

With Apple TV+ continuing to establish itself as a major player in premium content, “F1 The Movie” represents a significant leap in theatrical releases. The film’s June release positioned it perfectly for summer blockbuster season. In case you miss it in theaters, the movie will stream on Apple TV later this year.
