Showcasing India: Tourism Road Show
The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in association with Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) India, hosted the PATA India-India Tourism Road Show, June 25, at Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco. A Siliconeer report.

The concluding road show was part of a series of road shows that began, June 18, in New York, followed by Boston and Los Angeles. The road shows had 21 sellers from India, which included, tour operators, travel agents and destination management companies and around 50 local buyers, agents and tour operators.

The Ministry of Tourism was represented by Anil Oraw, director, India Tourism, Toronto (additional charge of the Americas region) and Sandhya Haridas, assistant director, India Tourism, Los Angeles. The sellers from India included the Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), represented by M.P. Mall, chairman and managing director.

The show initiated with rounds of B2B meetings between the buyers and sellers. This was followed by a lively presentation on “Incredible India” as a destination, by Sandhya Haridas. The presentation was well received and was attended by over 80 people, including representatives of airlines and others from the trade. The event concluded with the announcement of prizewinners. The prizes included economy class air tickets, sponsored by India Tourism, along with a host of tour packages provided by the Indian sellers, which was received with applause by the buyers.
