Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh wants to have a classic and simple look for his wedding while his wife, actress Geeta Basra, has opted for a traditional look.

Harbhajan Singh tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend Geeta Basra, Oct. 29, in Jalandhar in the norther Indian state of Punjab. Their wedding outfits have being styled by ace designer Archana Kochhar.

“Geeta wanted an extremely traditional look for all the important occasions, so we decided to go for lehengas, attached dupatta and a crop-top blouse with an Indian work on it. Geeta was specific about her colors. Harbhajan’s brief was classic and simple,” Kochhar said in a statement in Mumbai.

“The wedding lehenga will be in traditional red-and-gold combination accessorized by a ‘nath,’ a ‘matha patti’ and a ‘tikka’ with a beautiful head dupatta to complete the ensemble. The reception lehenga will be in electric blue color with mirror work and sequins,” she said.

Harbhajan is keeping his look simple and elegant with minimal embroidery on the wedding outfit.

“An off-white self-on-self embroidered sherwani with an ornate red sword is designed for Harbhajan Singh, who very keenly took part in the selection of his outfits. For the Gurudwara, he will sport an achkan with breeches or churidaar, and a turban,” Kochhar said.

Renowned Narayan Jewellers Ketan and Jatin Chokshi of Vadodara designed the jewelry.

The wedding celebrations were spread over five days, including mehndi, sangeet, pheras and reception, in Delhi on Nov. 1.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to grace the occasion.

Apart from his Team India teammates like Yuvraj Singh and Virat Kohli, Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachhan, Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra are also likely to attend the reception in the capital.
