WWDC, A documentary where Apple unloads a sheer amount of tech. Or in a layman’s language, ‘Nap Time.’ However, this time, I was wide awake. And, I simply didn’t watch it.

Looking over the summaries, it wasn’t all that impressive. Of course, there were a couple of things that stood out.

There was an absolutely exceptional update to ‘Do Not Disturb.’ It is now called ‘Focus.’ Crazy, right?

The updates also included an innovation by Apple, which is commonly known as Google Translate and Google Lens, but now it’s for iPhone.

Besides the swipy picture thing on messages, it was not all fun and jokes for Apple.

Apple already has all your credit cards and yet still hungry for more. They now support adding your drivers’ license, house keys, car keys, hotel room keys, and state IDs.

So all in all, if someone can steal your phone and figure out how to look actually like you, you are officially screwed.

Looking over the past few years, it feels like Apple has lost the Steve Jobs DNA. Steve Jobs would create something big, something new, something actually innovative. This something really would be that ‘Thing.’ It would run on for 5-6 years and people would be happy. Circa 2021, and every year for the past decade Tim Cook comes in and cooks up something new. Something that makes the last machine look like a decade old. Apple now just feels like ‘somebody that I used to know.’

But there is… “One More Thing.”

Facetime takes on some features like spatial audio and grid view. Most notable feature is Shareplay. This is advertised for sharing audio and/or video to a friend in real time. What’s more, FaceTime can now be universally shared via a link. So welcome to Apple’s variant of Zoom. Furthermore, they implemented the technology of portrait mode into Facetime, blurring out your little brother running around in a diaper. Apple also gave users the option to choose the focus point of the mic, deadening your little brother who now has a dirty diaper.

Oh and lastly, I still have half a bowl of mac and cheese as my leftover iOS 14, if anyone’s interested.
