There are two options- one is

  1. ‘Apply by Post’
  2. ‘Apply by Appointment’ – only for Indian-origin people who are visiting due to the death or a critical medical emergency of a loved one. Cases are supported by medical papers – A death certificate or a letter from the hospital.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Identify Visa Type – Choose Entry Visa (for Indian Origin Foreign Nationals) or Tourist Visa (for all Nationals).
    • Once you choose the Visa Type, you will able to locate Visa Fees, Documents Required, Photo Specifications, Processing Time. After that you can click on “Apply Now”.
  2. Begin your application by filling in all the fields correctly – name, passport number, nationality, etc. You must select Regular/Paper Visa Application to continue.
  3. After completing the online form, prepare your physical application pack along with all the required documents and send them by post to the VFS Indian Consular Application Centre. The document checklist will be provided to you once you have completed all the steps.

Applicants opting to submit application in person instead of posting the application are required to book an appointment.

You can submit your application at the VFS Indian Consular Application Centre based on your state of residence. Please refer to https://www.indianembassyusa.gov.in/pages/MTk, to verify which center you should send your application to.

If you are part of a family or group, you’ll have to create an individual profile for each member of the family or group.

You need to follow the below steps to complete the mail-in application submission process.

  1. Create a profile and register on the VFS portal system. Click on Apply Now to complete the next steps.
  2. Choose the correct state of residence based on the Consular Jurisdiction and correct passport category based on the purpose of your visit.
  3. Choose Mode of Submission as Postal. Note: VFS Indian Consular Application Centre are not accepting application in person due to COVID -19.
  4. Post receipt of application by post

Upon receipt of your application, VFS systems will be updated and you will receive an email notification, however, it is recommended that you continue tracking the status online and don’t just rely on email notifications.
