Rajesh Tailang to star in Apoorva Lakhia’s web series
()
“Shootout at Lokhandwala” director Apoorva Lakhia is making a web series around terrorism and it will star Rajesh Tailang, says the “Selection Day” actor.
Lakhia and Rajesh had worked together in the 2017 biographical crime film “Haseena Parkar”. They are reuniting for another project.
“I will be doing a web series with Apoorva Lakhia. The shooting is expected to begin by end of March. It is about terrorism,” Rajesh told IANS in a telephonic interview.
He said he took up the project because of the director.
“I had done ‘Haseena Parkar’ with him. He has always been supportive and very dear to me,” he added.
The “Omerta” actor has three more web series lined up.
“I have ‘Mirzapur 2’, ‘Selection Day 2’ and ‘Delhi Crime Story’,” he shared.
Rajesh has acted in many films, including “Mangal Pandey: The Rising” and “Phantom”, but it was his role of a strict father in last year’s series “Selection Day” that brought him into the limelight.
So, would he agree that web series helped him to gain fame rather than movies?
“Yes, definitely. I have been doing films for many years. Though ‘Mukkabaaz’ got me some attention, web series… I never thought that as an actor, I would get appreciation from the audience as well as the film fraternity members. It is great,” he said.
“It’s not like I don’t get to perform much on the big screen but you don’t get that much of screen time,” he added.
As for films, he has “Commando 3” coming up.
“I play the head of all operations. His name is Roy,” he shared.
Be it “Commando 3”, “Delhi Crime Story” or “Dev”, Rajesh has often played men in uniform.
“That’s because I generally get these kind of roles. I am either playing a man in uniform or somebody from security or a father. But characters are different from each other,” he said and added that he is not afraid of being stereotyped.
“Even if the profession of my characters is the same, I try to do something new.”
He is also in talks to play lead roles in “slice of life films”.
“Those films are not commercial. I can’t talk about them unless they are locked,” said the “Siddharth” actor.
