In search of snow went a family of five from Fremont. We reached a dry South Lake Tahoe but then it all changed into a “white Christmas,” writes an elated fourth-grader Janam A. Gupta. This thanksgiving break, my mom, dad, brother, grandma and I went to South Lake Tahoe. We left early in the morning and drove for about 4 hours with the hope of catching snow in our tracks. There was none to be found.

We got there and still no snow. And then it happened. A white flurry of heavenly snow came dashing on my face while I was ice-skating and what we were looking for was found. It felt like a big breeze with snow on my freezing and snowy face.

On the first day, it was already snowing a lot. I went ice-skating at #Heavenly. My face and body was mostly covered with snow. I made fuzzy, cold, and shiny snow angles. Also, I covered my dad’s jacket with snow. We ate a delicious lunch at #BaseCampPizzaCo. Then we went to walk around in the wet and snowy place. Heavenly is an awesome tourist point. When we went back to the car, it was hidden in snow. It was like a car made of snow. I was freezing cold and I kind of cried. Then we finally made our journey to the hotel. There was a lot of traffic then. We were lucky because our hotel wasn’t far.

Around 6:00 PM my dad said that there was going to be a blizzard and he was right. I was astonished when I saw the blizzard. We stayed at #Montbleu Hotel. They changed the place a lot since my last trip here about a year ago.

There are a lot of hotels at Lake Tahoe. Montbleu, Harrahs, Hard Rock, Marriott, Harveys, and Lake Tahoe Resort are some of the hotels at Lake Tahoe but, there are a lot more. Most of the hotels are cool, but they are expensive. At Montbleu, there is an indoor heated pool with a jacuzzi, a gaming arcade, shops, a café, a casino and more.

There is a lot of fun, amazing, and cool things to do at Lake Tahoe!

The next day, I made a chair out of snow and sat on it. We went to #HeavenlySkiResort again and had lunch at #CaliforniaBurgerCompany. Then I did some bungee jumping.

We started our trip back, going West on U.S. 50. The view was spectacular. It was all white, meaning, everything was enclosed in snow. On the way back, we saw at Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe was all icy.

The traffic was light. It looked like there was a lot of fog, but it was actually snowing. We saw a lot of autumn colors too. All the red, yellow, and orange leaves mixed with green leaves made our road trip very scenic and beautiful. The road was clean and slippery.

My grandma said the trees looked liked they had a figure. Most of them looked like imaginary animals. Some looked like they had white flowers, from far. The snow from Lake Tahoe ended at Placerville, at about 2,000 ft. That is a very long distance! And it’s really good for our state, we are in a drought for the past few years!

The temperature was super cold, but once we reached Sacramento, it was pleasant. The sunset over El Dorado Hills was very attractive and had a reddish purple tint. For the people who don’t know, Sacramento is California’s capital and California is the golden state.

Once we reached Fremont [where we live] we went to a restaurant called #SaravanaBhavan. Saravana Bhavan is a South Indian restaurant in Fremont. Then we went back home to relax from the big trip. This is one of my best trips. It was a wonderful trip and I can’t wait to go on another one soon!
