Mumbai (IANS) – Singer Kavita Seth has been vocal about her love for Sufi music and ancient poems. She will soon unveil an album of eight songs which are based on the works of Amrita Pritam, known for poems like “Ajj Aakhaan Waris Shah Nu” and “Main Tenu Phir Milangi”.
“Main Kavita Hoon” is a series of albums as well as concerts around the works of celebrated Indian poets. The songs are sung as well as composed by Kavita.
As part of “Main Kavita Hoon”, the singer has given her own touch to the works of various poets such as Mirza Ghalib and Wasim Barelvi. She is now all set to roll out her album of eight songs which are based on the works of Amrita Pritam.
“I remember the first time I read Amritaji’s poems, I was so mesmerised that I knew I had to do something with these poems and bring them to people, especially the younger audience who might not have had the opportunity to read these priceless poetry. I connect with each and every word she writes very deeply,” said Kavita.
“I admire how she was way ahead of her time and fearlessly broke all stereotypes. It is important to revive, share and spread the priceless work of our poets,” she added.
