Bringing Change in America, A Gen-Z Perspective
Over the years, I have witnessed how our government fails to do its job in the most pivotal moments. While quarantine has happened, Generation Z has realized the power it holds. We hold the power of disrupting a trend or practice that fails to work for us. We are the future after all.
We will not let someone make policies and laws that don’t work for us. We need to call politicians out on their actual actions and lack of concern for us. When people repeatedly say, “Every Vote Counts,” I say, “Every Voice Counts.” No matter who’s in the office to represent us, it’s essential for us to remind them that their job is to serve us.
If one thinks about, the U.S. is riddled with issues negatively impacting our community. There is a high rate of homelessness with little to no efforts for affordable housing. We have seen drastic effects of climate change with little effort to curb the source of our planet’s deterioration. Not to mention the systemic bias which plagues us even after America is considered the “Land of the Free.”Taking the initiative of trying to be the change I want to see in our country, there are seven goals I would like to achieve with Change For America.
- Update and add requirements for police officer eligibility.
- End censorship and bias in mainstream media while also curbing the spread of false information.
- Get more funding allocated to U.S. agriculture and increase investments into fixing/helping communities.
- End standardized testing, robot programming in curriculums, and censorship in learning.
- Help inmates turn their life around and enroll them in college for a potential job.
Change For America is here to tell politicians to do their job on their six-figure salaries and remind people they have a voice! As a teen myself, I can’t become a politician, but I do want to have an impact on a better future for us all. If my business gets the support it needs, we will be able to take the Gen-Z impact to the next level. We want to work with politicians and help them hear the changes we need to make communities like ours better.
Over the summer, I participated in a youth entrepreneurship program hosted by Children’s Aid New York City and Youthful Savings. From there, I built Change For America as an organization that sells meaningful products to raise money for activism.
My store can be found on the Youthful Savings Marketplace. Youthful Savings, the company that runs the marketplace, helped me realize I have the means to own and run a successful business. I may only have 20 sales at the moment, but every sale means the most. I now have a source of passive income from my business as well as money to keep my business going to make changes. Help today by supporting the mission.
