Action-packed ‘Pranaam’ wins hearts
Mumbai, (IANS) – Film: “Pranaam”; Cast: Rajeev Khandelwal, Sameksha Singh, Vikram Gokhle, Atul Kulkarni, Anirudh Dave, Abhimanyu Singh; Director: Sanjiv Jaiswal
The Eighties films in Bollywood were all about revenge and drama, when the hero-turned-villain was always successful in ruling Bollywood. But the theme that “Pranaam” touches upon has remained untouched for the last several years.
If you have not seen a classy film in a long time, then this Sanjiv Jaiswal direction will definitely be a treat to your eyes.
Released on Friday, the film is being highly appreciated by the audience. It earned Rs 1.37 crore at the Box Office on the first day, and Rs 1.89 crore on Day 2. It is expected to do good business during Eid and Raksha Bandhan.
Apart from the action-packed plot, the audience is also appreciating the songs, especially “Sirf Tu” that has fone viral on social media.
Rajeev Khandelwal and Sameksha Singh as the lead have done justice.
“Pranaam”, which is all about love, ambition, sacrifice and revenge, is the story of an underprivileged father and his son, where the son struggles to fulfil his father’s dream and be an IAS officer.
However, fate intervenes and makes a gangster of the IAS officer.
While Ajay Singh (Rajeev Khandelwal) is preparing to become an IAS officer, his father Dinanath (SM Zaheer) works as a peon, and also does a part-time job at a hotel to provide for his son’s education.
Manjari Shukla (Sameksha Singh), who belongs to a very rich family, is a friend and a classmate of Ajay and she falls in love with him.
But, mafia-rule is at a peak in the city, with well-known gangster Ganu Bhaiya (Abhimanyu Singh) becoming stronger with the help of politicians. On gunpoint he gets the paper of IAS exam leaked and in this he implicates honest university professor Tej Pratap Singh (Vikram Gokhale).
Later, Ganu Bhaiya is killed by Ajay Singh while he tries to save Tej Pratap Singh’s daughter from Gunu Bhaiya’s goons. The real trouble begins for Ajay when the matter is given to corrupt officer Raj Pal Singh (Atul Kulkarni) for investigation.
The officer not only blames Ajay for killing but also for the paper leak. Being surrounded by troubles, Ajay becomes revengeful and ends up becoming a dreaded gangster, leaving behind the dream of becoming an IAS.
Undoubtedly, Director Sanjiv Jaiswal has done a great job in giving “Pranaam” a feel of the 80s. Every scene shows the story of love, goals, struggle, compromise and revenge.
Rajiv Khandelwal, who is known for his performances in hits like “Aamir” and “Table Number 21”, has yet again left the audience in awe of his acting which is brilliant. Be it a student or a gangster, he has played both the characters with finesse.
Sameksha Singh as Manjari is the cherry on top. Other actors have also played their characters beautifully, making “Pranaam” a must watch.
