Suvidha International Foundation, a California-registered Non-Profit, successfully organized a 5k run/walk, March 30, in Sacramento.

Overseas Volunteers for Better India and OVBI and International Human Values partnered with Suvidha on organizing this run.

School kids, adults and seniors from different ethnicities participated in the event walking or running. Suvidha representatives – Bhaskar Vempati, Padma Priya Maddi, Avinash Maddi, Vandna Sharm and Vikash Kapadia started the run at 9am with over 500 participants in pursuit.

According to release from Suvidha, Vempati said Suvidha International Foundation aims to improve the quality of life and economic wellbeing of rural communities by creating self-sustainable, model villages in Telugu States. It organized the 5K run to support the service projects in Telugu States. Bhaskar mentioned that the aim of the run is to provide participants the highlights of Suvidha and its service projects in India and also to make the participants more health conscious. He also mentioned how running makes people happy, helps their heart, maintains their blood pressure, and improves their memory and sharpness and life longevity.

Many participants appreciated Suvidha’s 5K Run event and requested Suvidha to organize several similar events to support the cause. Suvidha representatives and Rocklin City Council Member, Bill Halldin presented trophies to the winners of the run.

Suvidha empowers the villages in both Telugu States by educating children, providing leadership and vocational trainings for youth and women, instilling holistic health through yoga, meditation and other healthy practices, creating awareness on health and hygiene, providing organic farming training to farmers, and implementing water conservation projects.

The non-profit coordinates with local Mondal Development Officers, Mondal Revenue Officers, district collectors, elected leaders and volunteer organizations in implementing the above-mentioned developmental activities. With the help of state and central governments, Suvidha also takes up their village developmental initiatives and execute them.

Suvidha International Foundation aims to adopt two villages for now, one in Telangana and one in Andhra and empower them in next 5 years and then expand its services to additional villages. Suvidha has currently adopted one village in Telangana and plans to adopt another village in Andhra Pradesh.

With the help of Back to the Roots, several developmental activities were implemented in adopted village, Astanagurthy in Telangana.
