A spiritual sequel to Anurag Basu’s earlier films on urban love—the 2007 cult classic “Life in a… Metro”— “Metro… In Dino” updates the formula for today’s digital generation. The film explores modern relationship hurdles like situationships, hookup culture, ghosting, therapy, and commitment-phobia, all against the backdrop of a bustling, emotionally fragmented India. With its mosaic of interconnected love stories, the film mirrors how South Asian millennials and Gen Z navigate romance through swipes, seen, and spiraling self-discovery.

The cast features a powerful ensemble: Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Anupam Kher, Konkona Sen Sharma, Neena Gupta, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Ali Fazal. At the trailer launch, Basu emphasized the emotional realism of the script while noting that music is not the main driver this time around. Still, fans are waiting to see if the soundtrack can live up to the iconic soulfulness of its predecessor.

“Metro… In Dino” hits theaters this July and will stream exclusively on Netflix following its theatrical run.
