The festive season for South Asians beckons. This Diwali, Indians have many reasons to celebrate. Census numbers assert that Asian Indians are the largest ethnic Asian population group in America. Our culture is being celebrated and acknowledged throughout the world. The South Asian rapper Hanumankind has topped international charts with “Big Dawgs.”

Evidently, South Asians are entering a new era of recognition and growth. We are slowly making our way to becoming global leaders. With our ever-increasing success, it is safe to say that brown is the new gold.

However, this newfound rush for gold has created a void for the next generation of thinkers and entrepreneurs. I’m talking about our fellow kids – elementary, middle, or even high school students.

It seems like every Silicon Valley parent wants their kid to become the next Elon, next Mark, next… you get the point. Younger Gen-Z South Asian students are always unsolicited with the following advice: “You need to keep going. You need to be an overachiever, or you will end up being left out. Don’t be the lunch, be the one eating it.” Seriously?

When was the last time a South Asian parent spoke to their teenager about their interests? Favorite hike? Favorite car or song? Seems challenging, right?

The minds of tomorrow are way smarter than most think today because our thought processes are becoming old.

No two people are the same. We know this. Yet, South Asian parents repeatedly compare and push their kids, getting trapped with the herd mentality. Stop. Take a breather and think.

Speak to the kid and find out what is it that they desire the most, not what you think is right for them. You will be surprised by their intuition and might actually learn about opportunities that you didn’t know existed.

Let’s not satiate the greed of Wall Street or their tech unicorn slaves with the minds of tomorrow, the Gen-Z population.

Let’s give them a chance, a voice. The next generation is going to thank us for our efforts, today.

We can start with the 2024 U.S. Presidential Elections. As the countdown starts, Vansh Gupta urges Americans to look beyond the political commotion and vote sensibly.

In the journey for self-identity, we often have to fulfil expectations of the generation before us. Francine Li and Kevin Tran share the journey of finding their identity after fulfilling the Asian American parents’ expectations.

Speaking of great expectations, gen-alpha writer Dharani Purushotham shows the promise of Blockchain with the hopes of digital currency taking form in the future.

Speaking of future, Khushi Mehta writes about the future of healthcare and biopharma being showcased at the EPPICon Global 2024 Conference.

Switching our focus towards the motoring world, we have two features. One celebrating the all-time hits of the automotive industry. Heaven for any car lover, the Monterey Motorsports Festival was the place to be for a European extravaganza, share Janam A. Gupta and Thiago Casagrande.

In similar fashion, Dushyant Patel raves about the showcase of cutting-edge designs and sustainable-focused technology at the Electrify Expo 2024.

Lastly, we celebrate Ethnic Media at the 2024 Ethnic Media Conference. We also celebrate South Asian culture and arts.

The time is now to create the change we wish to see in this world. May your dreams come true and your life be filled with light.

Siliconeer wishes all its readers a very happy Diwali!
