Disha Patani says she is looking for stronger roles and cannot go on a film signing spree to appear active in the public eye, writes Radhika Sharma.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Disha, 25, made her Hindi film debut with \u201cM.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story\u201d in 2016, said she would want to be associated with \u201cgood stories\u201d that help her register her presence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe story matters to me a lot. I can\u2019t do something I don\u2019t like. Just for the sake of being out there… Showing people I exist, I can\u2019t do that… Because it\u2019s a lot of work. Filmmaking is not easy. You have to give your 1,000 per cent. You don\u2019t get to sleep, eat.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not happy to do it if I\u2019m not happy with the story. I look for stronger roles, for the parts that would help me leave an impact. People should like the characters I play. Maybe, that\u2019s why I find it hard to find roles,\u201d Patani told PTI in an interview.<\/p>\n

The actor also featured in \u201cKung-Fu Yoga\u201d with Sonu Sood and international action legend Jackie Chan last year.<\/p>\n

Patani will next be seen in \u201cBaaghi 2,\u201d opposite Tiger Shroff, and she says it took her \u201ca lot of time\u201d to get into the skin of her character, Neha.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is a completely different person. But, I am similar to her in parts. Audience will see a suspense element to the role,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

The film is the sequel to the 2016 action movie, with Shroff coming back as the male lead, Ronnie.<\/p>\n

When asked if she was worried about the film as sequels are weighed with expectations, Patani says, \u201cI was not a part of the first one, so I don\u2019t have that pressure. But Tiger must be going through that. It\u2019s a fresh start for me. I don\u2019t have the baggage.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor says she aspires to do strong roles in films.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know it\u2019s too early for me to ask for so much. I have just started. In future, I want to do roles that inspire girls and women. I want girls to know that they are as strong as the boys,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n

Patani, who is a second year BTech dropout, wanted to become an Air Force pilot.<\/p>\n

She says people discouraged her when she decided to give up studies to pursue films but the only way to silence critics is to prove them wrong.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf someone tells me, \u2018you can\u2019t do this,\u2019 I get motivated, I feel \u2018I have to do this now.\u2019 People always pass judgements but at the end of the day, you know yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
