Director Karthik Subbaraj revealed, March 27, that his 2014 film \u201cJigarthanda\u201d helped him fulfil his dream of working with South superstar Rajinikanth.<\/p>\n

Karthik said he wanted to cast the actor in the film but was too scared to approach him as he was a budding filmmaker at that time.<\/p>\n

But when Rajinikanth saw \u201cJigarthanda,\u201d he praised the director and said he felt as if he was watching himself on the screen. They are now set to work on an action drama.<\/p>\n

Karthik, who is currently promoting \u201cMercury,\u201d his film with Prabhudheva, said, \u201cWhen I wrote \u2018Jigarthanda\u2019, I thought of him (Rajinikanth) while writing the part that was played by Bobby Simha.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cInterestingly, when Rajini Sir saw the film, he liked it and when we met he told Bobby and me that while he was watching \u2018Jigarthanda\u2019 he felt he was seeing himself on-screen,\u201d Karthik told PTI.<\/p>\n

When the director told the \u201cRobot\u201d star about his desire to cast him in the film, the 67-year-old actor said he should have approached him.<\/p>\n

\u201c…He told me whenever you have any role for me just approach me… I did not know whether he will do a film with a director who is just one-film-old or not. When I saw that he worked with Pa Ranjith on \u2018Kabali,\u2019 who is two-film-old, I became confident.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Talking about the project, he said, \u201cThis is a realistic film but it will have elements of Rajini Sir. It is a fictional story. He loved the script.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Karthik understands that directing a project like this comes with a huge responsibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is my biggest film, it is my dream opportunity. I have to do justice to it. I can\u2019t take it for granted. We will start shooting in two-three months. We are yet to decide where to shoot the film. We are yet to confirm the leading lady.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
