{"id":239413,"date":"2021-04-25T16:32:31","date_gmt":"2021-04-25T23:32:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/siliconeer.com\/current\/?p=239413"},"modified":"2021-04-25T16:32:31","modified_gmt":"2021-04-25T23:32:31","slug":"humble-yet-stylish-lauki-ke-kabab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/siliconeer.com\/current\/humble-yet-stylish-lauki-ke-kabab\/","title":{"rendered":"Humble Yet Stylish: Lauki ke Kabab"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>(Above): Lauki ke Kabab (Siliconeer)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The goodness of bottle gourd gets pepped up with the taste of <em>kabab.<\/em> Here is a tandoori twist to the ever-humble bottle gourd, by <strong>Sudha Gupta<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 cup chana dal (washed, soaked in water)<\/li>\n<li>1 bottle gourd (<em>opu <\/em>or <em>lauki)<\/em> cut into pieces \u2013 1 cup<\/li>\n<li>2 potatoes (boiled, mashed)<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup green onion (finely chopped)<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup spinach (finely chopped)<\/li>\n<li>I\/4 cup cilantro<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp. green chili (finely chopped)<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp. ginger (grated)<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp. <em>sooji<\/em><\/li>\n<li>salt to taste<\/li>\n<li>1tsp. black pepper<\/li>\n<li>3 tbsp. <em>chaat masala<\/em><\/li>\n<li>1 cup breadcrumbs<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup milk (optional)<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp. clarified butter <em>(ghee)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Grind the <em>chana dal<\/em> and make a thick paste.<\/li>\n<li>Take bottle gourd, add \u00bd cup water, make a fine paste.<\/li>\n<li>Add <em>sooji<\/em> in grinder, mix \u00bd cup milk or water and grind.<\/li>\n<li>Put a nonstick frying pan on stove on medium flame. Add 2 tbsp. <em>ghee.<\/em> Add chana dal paste and roast for 3-4 minutes. Add bottle gourd paste, spinach, green onions, green chili and ginger.<\/li>\n<li>Mix <em>sooji<\/em> paste with bottle gourd and <em>chana dal<\/em> paste.<\/li>\n<li>Roast till mixture becomes a thick dough. Close stove and allow mixture to cool.<\/li>\n<li>Mix mashed potatoes and salt to taste.<\/li>\n<li>Take a baking tray, grease with oil.<\/li>\n<li>Spread the entire mixture on the greased tray.<\/li>\n<li>Make \u00bd inch thick squares of the mixture, press the squared by hand.<\/li>\n<li>Spread breadcrumbs on top, add butter on square mixture cakes.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat oven 300\u00b0F for 30 minutes and bake.<\/li>\n<li>Cut the baked cake into triangular pieces and serve with <em>salsa.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Garnish with red and yellow bell peppers with some coriander.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Above): Lauki ke Kabab (Siliconeer) The goodness of bottle gourd gets pepped up with the taste of kabab.
