(Source: EMS)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>By Pilar Marrero, Ethnic Media Services<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Grassroots activists from the districts of seven California Republican Congressmen who last week objected to the certification of the Presidential elections results \u00a0called for their expulsion for seeking to \u201cerase the votes\u201d of people of color which they said were \u201cthe result of organizing and not fraud.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The activists called for severe consequences for the group whom they called \u201cthe seditious seven\u201d from California: Rep. Devin Nunes (Central Valley), Rep. Jay Obernolte (Central Valley), Rep. Ken Calvert (Inland Empire), Rep. Darrell Issa (San Diego), Rep. Mike Garcia (Los Angeles),<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Doug LaMalfa (Far North California) and Rep. Kevin McCarthy: (Central Valley).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the common lies being told around the country in regard to fraud, especially across conservative outlets, is that they\u2026can erase black women, black and people of color who make up a significant portion of the voting block in the state of California\u201d, said Pablo Rodr\u00edguez, executive director of Communities for a New California based in California&#8217;s Central Valley.<\/p>\n<p>The activists said the seven may not be kicked out of Congress, but added that they will work to empower more voters in the districts they represent so \u201cwe can turn them blue,\u201d said Tina McKinnor of LA Voice Action, a grassroot inter-faith group from Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith their support for not certifying the election results, these representatives joined in the lies to disenfranchise voters,\u201d said Chris Rice-Wilson, from the Alliance San Diego Mobilization Fund. \u201cThe record votes we saw in our communities wasn\u00b4t the result of fraud but of organizing efforts\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Gomez Daly, executive director of Inland Empire United, based in San Bernardino, said that he\u00b4s ashamed of his congressman Ken Calvert but pointed to other local officials who \u201cshare conspiracy theories on social media.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey&#8217;re openly advocating violence,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Irene Kao, executive director of Courage California, a progressive online activism network, said that even though President Trump has been impeached and suffered politically \u201cpunishing him won&#8217;t be enough when these congressmen still have two years in office to continue pushing the insurrection he started.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Ab0ve): House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (above) is one of seven California Republican Congressmen that are facing calls for expulsion due to their objection to the certification of the presidential election results.
