Actor Anupam Kher said, Sept. 12, there was a phase in his life when he went bankrupt after producing a film, to the point that he just had five thousand rupees.<\/p>\n

\n

Kher produced \u201cMaine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara\u201d in 2005, but when the film tanked, so did his hopes to start his own production house.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last film I produced, \u2018Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara,\u2019 I wanted to be a tycoon but I almost went bankrupt. I really did. Nothing worked. I wanted an \u2018Anupam Kher Studio Limited,\u2019 and then I realized I didn\u2019t even have five thousand rupees,\u201d Kher told reporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen I did my play \u2018Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai,\u2019 based on my failures, which gave me maximum amount of money,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Kher was speaking at the trailer launch of the film \u201cRanchi Diaries,\u201d which he has produced. Also present there were Mahesh Bhatt, David Dhawan, Rohit Shetty and the cast.<\/p>\n

Directed by Sattwik Mohanty, the upcoming film tells the story of a young aspiring pop sensation who will do whatever it takes to make it big in life.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Sattwik came, he had the same look which I had when I had gone to meet Bhatt sahab<\/i>. I thought if I could help then (why not). If the film does well or not it is up to the audience, but my job was to bring the film to a certain level,\u201d the actor said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am a living example that if you work hard, you\u2019ll succeed. I came to this city with Rs. 37, today I am the producer of this film. Hard work matters,\u201d Kher, 62, said.<\/p>\n

Bhatt, who had directed \u201cArth,\u201d said he had given Rs. 30 to Kher back then.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe came to drop me at the airport and I realized his silence, he was wondering how he would go back. I gave him Rs. 30 which he doesn\u2019t talk about,\u201d Bhatt quipped.<\/p>\n

The film stars Soundarya Sharma, Himansh Kohli, Taaha Shah, Kher among others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
