Veteran actor Mark Hamill is supporting a \u201csymbolic and satirical\u201d crowd-funded initiative to purchase a stake in Twitter and ban President Donald Trump from the social media service.<\/p>\n

The campaign was launched last month, with the goal to raise $1 billion, buy a controlling interest in Twitter, and shut down Trump\u2019s account.<\/p>\n

Hamill shared the campaign on Twitter, writing, \u201cWith my #ArmageddonAnxiety growing daily- I donated gladly!\u201d He later added that the initiative is \u201csymbolic and satirical.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDonald Trump has done a lot of horrible things on Twitter. From emboldening white supremacists to promoting violence against journalists, his tweets damage the country and put people in harm\u2019s way. But threatening actual nuclear war with North Korea takes it to a dangerous new level. It\u2019s time to shut him down,\u201d the campaign\u2019s GoFundMe page reads.<\/p>\n

So far, the initiative has racked up more than $83,000 of its $1 billion goal.<\/p>\n

Hamill has been a longtime critic of Trump, and he has poked fun at the president\u2019s social media presence before by reading Trump\u2019s tweets in the voice of one of his most famous animated roles: DC\u2019s Joker.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
