Kriti Sanon has portrayed a girl-next-door and a glamorous avatar in her three-year old film career but she believes it is sad when industry tends to typecast the actors.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old star, who made her debut with \u201cHeropanti,\u201d followed it up with \u201cDilwale\u201d in 2015 and recently \u201cRaabta,\u201d says she was \u201cbracketed\u201d right after her second outing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt isn\u2019t so much about getting meaty roles as it is about getting typecast. When I had only done two films, \u2018Raabta\u2019 hadn\u2019t released, I had meetings with a few people from the industry for something where they said \u2018this is not the kind of film you like.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, but how do you know what I like when I myself don\u2019t know about it. I think people put you in a bracket very fast. They think \u2018oh she has done commercial roles so maybe she likes only this or can do only this,\u2019\u201d Sanon told PTI.<\/p>\n

Sanon says it\u2019s important to find people who are willing to explore an actor\u2019s potential and not go by their on-screen image.<\/p>\n

\u201cPutting people in a bracket, where you feel they can only do what they\u2019ve done till now is not right. You consciously need to follow your heart and do what you feel like to not fall in any bracket. It\u2019s important to find someone who sees the actor inside you,\u201d says Kriti.<\/p>\n

The actress will next be seen in filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari\u2019s rom-com \u201cBareilly Ki Barfi,\u201d where she would be seen in a de-glam avatar as a small-town girl.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never played a small-town girl before, picking up the dialect was refreshing. I didn\u2019t have to wear much make up, was wearing clothes I could sleep in. I used to sleep more because I used to take lesser time than the guys to get ready!\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor recalls the time Ashwiny came to narrate the script to her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI come from a normal middle-class family in Delhi. I am very simple in every way. When I met Ashwiny, I was sitting crossed legged on the floor, wearing a loose T-shirt and a loosely tied bun, the way we are at home.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe came and said \u2018are you like this? Because I\u2019ve always seen you in stylish clothes.\u2019 At home, I am extremely simple.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film, scheduled to release tomorrow, comes after \u201cRaabta\u201d which failed at the box office.<\/p>\n

Kriti says though the failure was heartbreaking, she is happy the team tried something different with the reincarnation-romantic drama.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs long as you\u2019re trying something new and not being safe, it\u2019s okay to fail. It\u2019s disheartening when a film fails but you can\u2019t just stop there. I\u2019ve taken so much from \u2018Raabta.\u2019 I\u2019ve improved so much as a person, as an actor, post the film,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n
