In a strong message, the new U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, said, Jan. 27, her country under the Trump administration will show its \u201cstrength\u201d at the world body and asserted that America will act accordingly against those nations who do not support it, writes Yoshita Singh. <\/b>\u2013 @Siliconeer #Siliconeer #UnitedNations #UN #TheWhiteHouse #IndianAmerican #NikkiHaley #Trump @UN @NikkiHaley @UnitedNations<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal with the administration is to show value at the UN and the way we show our value is to show our strength, show our voice,\u201d Indian American Haley, South Carolina\u2019s former Governor, told reporters at the United Nations as she arrived to present her credentials to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.<\/p>\n

In a strong message to Trump administration\u2019s opponents, Haley said Washington will stand by its allies but it will act accordingly against those nations who do not support it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have the backs of our allies and make sure that our allies have our back as well. For those who do not have our back, \u2026 we will make points to respond to that accordingly,\u201d she said in her brief remarks to a sea of reporters at the UN Secretariat\u2019s lobby.<\/p>\n

She said \u201cwe have hit the ground running\u201d and there is a \u201cnew US UN.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are going to see a change in the way we do business.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s no longer about working harder, it\u2019s about working smarter,\u201d she said, adding that the Trump administration will do away with anything that is \u201cobsolete\u201d and unnecessary.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is time of strength, this is the time of action, this is the time of getting things done. This administration is prepared and ready to have me go in. Everything that is working, we are going to make it better, everything that\u2019s not working, we will try and fix and anything that\u2019s seems to be obsolete and not necessary, we are going to do away with it.<\/p>\n

This is time of fresh eyes, new strength and new vision,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Haley then presented her credentials to Guterres on the first day she took charge as Washington\u2019s envoy to the UN.<\/p>\n

The daughter of Indian immigrants from Punjab, Haley was this week overwhelmingly approved by the Senate as America\u2019s next Ambassador to the UN, scripting history by becoming the first Indian American to serve on a Cabinet rank position in any U.S. presidential administration.<\/p>\n
