Monterey Bay Aquarium recognizes her commitment to ocean conservation.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The award was presented in a public ceremony at the aquarium, by aquarium Executive Director Julie Packard and by Brandon Birtell with The Paul Walker Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The award, established in 2014 in collaboration with Walker\u2019s daughter, recognizes individuals who are using their public stature to advance ocean causes and support philanthropic ventures.<\/p>\n<p>Before he began his acting career, Walker was an aspiring marine biologist and he remained a lifelong friend of the ocean \u2013 and of the aquarium.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10342\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10342\" style=\"width: 850px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10342\" src=\"https:\/\/siliconeer.com\/current\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/PAGE-ANJALI-WORLD-02.jpg\" alt=\"Anjali World with her mother Deborah Addicott. \" width=\"850\" height=\"638\" title=\"\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10342\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Anjali World with her mother Deborah Addicott.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t begin to express how humbled and honored I am to receive this award from the Walker family,\u201d said Anjali World during the ceremony. \u201cPaul\u2019s dedication to marine conservation inspired me tremendously. I will forever fight to carry on Paul\u2019s legacy in protecting marine life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anjali Ranadiv\u00e9, who performs under the stage name \u201cAnjali World,\u201d grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and developed an early passion for wildlife \u2013 as a middle school volunteer at the aquarium, and with other nonprofits including The Ocean Project.<\/p>\n<p>She began her performing career after earning a marine science degree from UC-Berkeley. At the same time, she founded Jaws &amp; Paws, a marine and wildlife conservation nonprofit that campaigns for protection of sharks, sea turtles, polar bears and tigers. She gives all the proceeds from her music to Jaws &amp; Paws.<\/p>\n<p>At the October 3 celebration, the aquarium also presented its Paul Walker Youth Award to 17-year-old high school student Katie Ridgeway of Monterey, Calif., a Teen Conservation Leader and volunteer at the aquarium.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10343\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10343\" style=\"width: 850px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10343\" src=\"https:\/\/siliconeer.com\/current\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/PAGE-ANJALI-WORLD-03.jpg\" alt=\"Anjali World at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. \" width=\"850\" height=\"1133\" title=\"\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10343\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Anjali World at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While Paul Walker\u2019s daughter, Meadow Walker, was unable attend, she said in a statement that, \u201cMy dad was in awe of the ocean and wanted to see it protected.\u00a0 It&#8217;s exciting to know scholarships and students like Katie will ensure the future of our oceans. It&#8217;s an honor to be supporting her and the Monterey Bay Aquarium&#8217;s teen program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On behalf of The Paul Walker Foundation, Birtell presented a scholarship check to Ridgeway and a contribution to the nonprofit aquarium for its Ocean Education and Leadership Center.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOcean conservation plays a central role in Anjali\u2019s life, as it did for Paul Walker,\u201d said Julie Packard. \u201cLike Paul, she is passionate about creating a future with healthy oceans, and inspiring others to do their part. We\u2019re proud to have played a formative part in shaping that passion, and look forward to honoring her for all she\u2019s accomplished.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re also so proud of what Katie is doing to inspire her peers and our visitors as an ocean conservation leader,\u201d Packard said. \u201cShe has such a positive influence on the adult staff, volunteers, and all the aquarium guests with whom she interacts. I can\u2019t wait to see all that the future holds for her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was fortunate to have visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium with my father on several occasions,\u201d said his daughter, Meadow Walker. \u201cIt held a special place in his heart, as it now does in mine.
